"At first, both elements seem distant from each other; but when film maker and guitarist become fully focused, their respective improvisations are both powerful and intimate. At one point Ranaldo shrugs his instrument from his shoulder to bow its strings like a cello, swinging the guitar like a pendulum to the visual accompaniment of an X-rayed hand opening and closing. In the dim lit auditorium the guitar now resembles a floating sculpture, while Singer's Faustian fist image flexes menacingly above it."
